under construction :)
for now i just want to record my thoughts on free things i played on itch and elsewhere. it's a wip so things dont work - specifically most of the links to download/play each game are missing
these are not reviews, despite my occasional use of language of recommendation in my entries.
this is a journal, a way of recording initial impressions and thoughts;
be they scattered, irrelevant, or of personal contexts and memories. i like to record if something causes me to rabbithole and seek out similar creations or creations by the same developers. i want to record initial emotions, including what would be negative and unconstructive responses in a more traditional dialogue, like anger or dismissal. i think these responses are valuable to my personal development.
the audience for this project is just me, but i think a directory of small artgames and responses could be interesting or useful to people, so i offer them to be (semi-)public. by the way, sometimes i write in a way that implies an audience, such as avoiding detail to keep a surprise, but it's random and mood-based. don't think much on it.
i firmly believe that every game i have played here has been worthwhile to me in some way [that i owe it to myself to try to ensure that every game played here is worthwhile to me].
i firmly believe that not allowing yourself the space to engage with art you ultimately dislike or don't understand is how you end up conceited and incurious about the world, and about yourself.
also does anyone have a good word or phrase for these sorts of games and experiences because idk like indie games is a synonym for switch metroidvania to me now? is it altgames? are we using altgames? please send hel p
